should a man/ woman post certain stuff on online dating sites?

For example i was on an online dating site , not a big one like match , it was one of those where people are local in your city or town . anyway one guy said that he was in his 20's, a virgin , never had a girl friend or a date and that he lived with his parents . my cousin also went on a local online dating site and he saw this girl had placed a profile saying that she herself was in her 20's, a virgin never had a boyfriend or date and lived with her parents. however both these people had college degrees and jobs. i was just wondering was this a good idea or a bad idea to post personal information like that online .
